More Than Just an Award: Kathy Harvey-Brown and the Power of "Big Why"

The Scott & Sunny Townsend Team recently celebrated a remarkable achievement at the Keller Williams Maine Awards: our very own Kathy Harvey-Brown was honored with the prestigious "Big Why" Award. This award, now in its second year, recognizes an individual who truly embodies the spirit of Keller Williams' core values and lives a "life by design." And here's something truly special: Sunny, our team owner, won the inaugural Big Why award in 2023, meaning that both awards since its inception have gone to members of the Scott & Sunny Townsend Team!

The "Big Why" is more than just a motivational phrase; it's the driving force behind your actions, your goals, and ultimately, your success. It's the deep-rooted reason behind why you do what you do. It's about aligning your career with your deepest values and creating a life of purpose and fulfillment.

For Kathy, her "Big Why" shines through in everything she does: her family. One of her team members eloquently said, "Kathy exemplifies the meaning behind the Big Why Award. She has overcome incredible challenges to gain success, and success for her is supporting her family, including her two teenage boys consistently."

Kathy's Inspiring Journey

Kathy's story is one of resilience, determination, and the unwavering pursuit of a better life. As a single mom of two grade school boys and with zero sales experience, she took the leap of faith during the pandemic from social work to real estate sales in order to make it on her own and keep her home and boys. Her commitment to her "Big Why" powered her through extensive training during an uncertain time, and her hard work paid off.

In just a few years, Kathy has become a top agent on our team and in the Market Center. She's served on the Agent Leadership Council (ALC), taught classes, purchased a new home, and kept her original home as an investment property. All while being a dedicated and loving mother to her sons.
